LIFT Elevator Certification Service
In the European Union, all elevators and safety components must bear the CE mark and be accompanied by an EU conformity declaration before they can be put on the market. The CE mark can only be used after strictly complying with the inspection requirements of the EU Elevator Directive, obtaining conformity assessment and CE certification from the EU notified body. The conformity assessment process covers the entire elevator and its safety components. In 2014, the European Union issued the latest elevator directive 2014/33/EU, as well as the new version of elevator coordination standards EN 81-20 and -50. The new directive came into effect on April 20, 2016, replacing the old directive 95/16/EC. The new standards EN 81-20 and -50 became mandatory from September 2017, replacing the old standards EN 81-1 and -2. The LIFT Directive is an EU regulation on elevator safety, which requires EU authorized institutions to conduct EU qualification reviews on safety components and straight elevator products in accordance with the LIFT Directive. |
